Dr. Moorshid Mon Thayyil

Dr.  Moorshid Mon Thayyil is a highly qualified Psychiatric Social Worker, mental health professional, educator, and researcher with advanced training from the prestigious National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, where he completed his PhD. He also holds an MPhil from NIMHANS, one of India’s premier institutions for mental health education, clinical training, and research.

Dr. Moorshid has extensive experience in providing psychosocial assessment, counselling, family therapy, caregiver support, rehabilitation planning, and community-based mental health interventions. His clinical practice focuses on helping individuals and families cope with emotional, psychological, and behavioural challenges through evidence-based therapeutic approaches.

Alongside his clinical practice, he serves as an Assistant Professor at SAFI Institute of Advanced Study, Malappuram, where he is actively involved in teaching, mentoring students, and promoting excellence in mental health education. His unique combination of clinical expertise and academic experience enables him to deliver compassionate, research-informed, and patient-centred care.

He has led and contributed to several mental health research projects, including the SPARSHAM – Asha Bhavan Psychosocial Support Project, and has published research in reputed peer-reviewed journals. His research interests include family-centred psychosocial interventions, stroke rehabilitation, caregiver mental health, community mental health, and psychosocial rehabilitation.

Dr. Moorshid is available for consultation at the Wellness Clinic – Manjeri Branch and also provides secure online counselling and mental health consultations for clients across India and abroad.
